The BLACK UNITED STATES® pageant was FIRST conducted by Mr. William Hall of New York in 2022 with the crowning of Samenia Kelly Maier of Pennsylvania in 2023 as the BLACK UNITED STATES® titleholder. In February 2024, Mr. Hall sold all rights to the name, BLACK UNITED STATES®, and transferred the U.S. registered service mark to Yolanda M. Stennett. Mrs. Stennett is the sole owner and the national director of the official Black United States® pageant.

The BLACK UNITED STATES® pageant and all divisions associated with this name are protected by the United States registered service mark #7291951. BLACK UNITED STATES® pageant is NOT a franchise, affiliated nor a partner with any other pageant system.

Yolanda Stennett is no stranger to the pageant industry. BLACK UNITED STATES® is the second time she has been named the owner and national director of a national or international pageant. In 2009, Mrs. Stennett, in her first year of ownership of the Ethnic World pageant system, was chosen as the pilot episode of "Chasing the Crown" a docuseries produced for the WE: Women's Entertainment channel.

Mrs. Stennett has held five national or international pageant titles and numerous state and local titles during her over 25 years in the pageant industry.

Yolanda and her family currently reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
